Volunteer Voices: Small Acts of Kindness, Lasting IMPACD

The Heart of Our Community 💛

When we talk about the IMPACD community, we often speak about creativity, connection and inclusion. At the heart of all of this are our volunteers.

They are the people who offer a warm welcome at the door, provide reassurance to someone attending for the first time, and gently encourage participants when they need a little extra support.

Quite simply, they are an important part of everything we do.

The People Who Make It Possible

Over the past year, our community has grown in ways we could only have hoped for. Through our dance, art and music sessions across our studio and throughout Rushcliffe, we have been able to reach more people, offer more activities and create meaningful opportunities for people to connect.

Our volunteers have played a huge part in that success. They do far more than support the practical side of our sessions. They help create an atmosphere where people feel comfortable, welcomed and included from the moment they arrive.

For many participants, seeing a familiar friendly face can make all the difference, especially when they are trying something new.

More Than Helping Hands

Volunteering with us is about much more than helping out at a session. It is about being part of a community and helping others feel that they belong.

Our volunteers:

● help people feel comfortable in new environments

● support inclusive participation for people of all abilities

● build genuine relationships with participants

● bring positivity and encouragement to every session

● help create a welcoming and supportive community

Whether they are joining in with a Joyful Dance session, helping with a creative activity, assisting behind the scenes, or simply taking the time to chat with someone over a cup of coffee, every contribution matters.

A Space to Grow for Everyone

Volunteering can be a rewarding experience in many different ways. Many of our volunteers join us to meet new people, gain experience, develop confidence or give something back to their local community. What often happens is that they gain just as much as they give.

We have seen volunteers develop new skills, form lasting friendships and discover strengths they never knew they had. We have watched people grow in confidence and become role models for others, simply by offering the same encouragement that was once shown to them.

That sense of personal growth is one of the most rewarding parts of being involved.

The Impact You Help Create

The support of our volunteers has helped us achieve so much over the past year. From expanding our activities and welcoming new participants to exceeding the targets set within our recent Weaving Troupe project, volunteers have been part of every success. Yet the real impact cannot always be measured by numbers.

It can be seen in the laughter that fills a room during a session, heard in conversations between new friends, felt when someone arrives feeling nervous and leaves smiling, and found in the confidence that grows little by little over time. These are the moments that stay with us.

A Thank You That Means So Much

To every volunteer who has shared their time, energy and kindness with us, thank you. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for caring. Thank you for helping create spaces where people feel welcomed, supported and valued.

You may not always realise the impact you have, but your contribution matters more than you know. Every conversation, every smile and every act of encouragement helps make our community stronger.

Thinking About Volunteering?

If you have ever considered volunteering, we would love to hear from you.

You do not need any specific experience. What matters most is a willingness to support others and be part of an inclusive and welcoming community.

Whether you can spare a little time or a lot, there are many ways to get involved here at IMPACD.

Together We Are Stronger

Everything we do is built on people coming together. Our volunteers help create the welcoming environment that allows participants to feel comfortable, connected and confident.

Through dance, music, art and shared experiences, we continue to build a community where everyone has the opportunity to take part and feel they belong.

That is something worth celebrating, and our volunteers deserve a huge thank you for helping make it happen.
