Hitting the Mark and Beyond: A celebration of Community Success

As we reflect on the end of our recently completed and inspiring Weaving Troupe project, we are incredibly proud to share some wonderful news about the impact our community has achieved together.

Following the completion of our Nottingham City Council UK Shared Prosperity Fund Community Engagement Grant, we recently received our official end-of-project performance summary which has returned results beyond our expectations.

Every single target set within the grant agreement was surpassed.

Not only is this a huge achievement for our organisation, but more importantly, it is a celebration of the people, volunteers, participants and supporters who continue to make our community such a positive, welcoming and inspiring place to be.

A Year of Growth and Connection

Throughout the project, our focus remained simple:

To create inclusive opportunities through dance and music that help people feel connected, confident, supported and empowered as well as improving the health and wellbeing of every participant.

What makes these results so meaningful is that behind every percentage is a real person, a real experience and a real story of growth.

Together, we achieved:

200% of our target for local events and activities supported
135% of our target for people reached
290% of our target for volunteering opportunities supported
161% increase in users accessing facilities and community spaces
249% improvement in engagement numbers
145% of our target for volunteering opportunities created

To see every category exceed expectations is something we are deeply proud of.

More Than Numbers

While the statistics are amazing, the real success comes from the human impact behind them.

These numbers represent:

• people finding confidence again
• individuals building new friendships
• volunteers discovering purpose and new skills
• participants improving their physical wellbeing
• community members feeling welcomed, included and valued

Every dance and drumming music session and creative workshop, has helped create spaces where people can simply be themselves without fear of judgement. They were able to explore their own creativity and express themselves freely through the creation of costumes and lanterns for the Nottingham Carnival and Hockley Hustle which they proudly also showed off to the public at the memorable “This Girl Can Nottingham” awards at the end of November 2025.

For some participants, attending a session was the first step towards reconnecting with others after periods of isolation or low confidence. For others, volunteering opportunities opened doors to personal development, leadership and new experiences they never imagined possible.

The Power of Community

One of the things we are proudest of is the sense of belonging that continues to grow within our projects and activities.

Our community is built on encouragement, inclusivity, cohesion  and kindness.

Whether someone joins us to improve wellbeing, meet new people, express themselves creatively or simply try something different, they are welcomed as part of something bigger.

The increase in engagement and participation throughout this project shows just how important accessible and inclusive community activities are.

People want spaces where they feel seen, heard and supported and we remain committed to creating exactly that.

Thank You

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of our participants, volunteers, partners and wider community.

Thank you to everyone who attended a session, volunteered their time, supported an event, encouraged a friend to join, or believed in the value of creativity and community wellbeing.

These achievements belong to all of us.

Together, we are proving that the Arts are not just an activity.  They are a powerful tool for connection, confidence, wellbeing and positive change.

Looking Ahead

While we are taking a moment to celebrate these fantastic outcomes, we are also excited for what comes next following our recent relocation to the Greenway Centre in Sneinton.

We will continue working hard to create opportunities that inspire creativity, strengthen wellbeing and bring people together through inclusive community experiences.

Our Weaving Troupe project may have reached its conclusion, its impact though will continue to grow far beyond the final report. And for that, we could not be more grateful.
